We moved into our house a year ago and have been enjoying tackling home projects! One of the projects I wanted to do was stripes in our downstairs powder room. Here are before pics of the space before we painted it. We also painted the cabinets as well.
Before
During Project
We measured 10 inch stripes around the whole room. The base color was Accessible Beige from Sherwin Williams and the White color was called Duck White from Sherwin Williams. After you put your tape down don’t forget to back fill the tape with the base color so it doesn’t bleed through. You’ll get nice clean stripes if you back fill.
Finished Project
I was very happy with the finished result! The stripes make the powder room feel bigger and definitely beachy!

I want to do my tiny, but very high ceiling powder room in stripes like this! But what do you mean by “back fill” on the tape? I am not familiar with that term, and I’ve never done stripes before. Any suggestions you can share would be so appreciated 🙂

What does back fill mean? I love your bathroom, and would like to do that to my very small, but high ceilinged bathroom.

What does back fill mean ?

Hi There Linda! Back fill means: After you lay your tape down on the walls you then paint the base color that the walls are currently painted over the blue painters tape. Let it dry. Then you apply your accent color. After the accent color has dried you can remove the painters tape and there should be no bleeding in of the accent color onto the base color.
